Habitat Description: Xeric, sandy environment. Herbaceous material is mowed every 5 years on right-of-way and woody material is cut down.

Soil Description: Deep Sparta sands.

Botanical Data

Plant Notes: Erect herb in fruit. Leaves and stems are lepidote, with scales more densely arranged on stems and abaxial leaf surfaces. Scales lend a ferruginous appearance to the stems, as well as an iridescent or silvery quality to the abaxial leaf surface. Adaxial leaf surface is pale green, with ferriginous glands. Growing with: Yucca louisianensis, Eragrostis secundiflora, Lechea mucronata, L. tenuifolia, Froelichia, Stylisma pickeringii var. pattersonii, Phemeranthus rugospermus, Tragia ramosa. Common.
