Habitat Description: Growing at the edge of a clearing in bottomland hardwood forest, in an area typically inundated with water but currently dry due to drought.

Botanical Data

Plant Notes: Erect herb with a pink inflorescence. Stamens with pink anthers atop white filaments; extending beyond petals. Vegetative material is a bright yellow-green, however swollen nodes, ocrea are a deep crimson colour. Growing with: Nyssa sylvatics, Ulmus planera, Quercus stellata, Quercus falcata, and Polygonum sp.. Common.
