Habitat Description: On roadside edge of remnant tallgrass prairie in full sun.

Botanical Data

Plant Notes: Erect herb with bright yellow ray flowers and yellowish-green disk flowers. Stiff white hairs along stems with a purplish blotch at their base, staining the otherwise light coloured stem. Sub-sessile and opposite leaves are densely pubescent as are lower whorl of bracts; inner bracts appear almost glabrous. Growing with: Rumex, Verbena brasiliense, Cynodon dactylon, Rudbeckia maxima, Centaurea americana, Daucus carota. Common.
