Locality Description: Just north of the Arlington Highlands shopping complex, in the southwest corner of the intersection of Arbrook Boulevard and Center Street. (Coordinates obtained using Google Earth images from 12 June 2011).

Habitat Description: Roadside. Mowed unpurposed field.

Soil Description: Hard-packed clay soil.

Botanical Data

Plant Notes: Erect herb with raceme of ≥ 30 midnight blue-purple urceolate flowers. Bottommost flowers are open and display white teeth. Channeled, rich dark-green leaves fold in along their length. Leaves arise from the bulb then fall over in a fountain-like display. Adaxial leaf surface is glaucous. White bulb with paper brown sheath. Peduncle is a red-splotched pale green with a glaucous surface. Faint rubbery odor from flowers. Growing in clumps 5-20 cm across. More than 30 plants visible.
