Habitat Description: West Fort of Trinity River. At edge of water, along narrow bank before forested edge. Partial shade. Growing with: Lippia lanceolata, Sesbania vesicaria, Justicia americana, Schoenoplectus cf. californicus and Hibiscus laevis.

Soil Description: Moist sandy loam with abundance of decaying organic matter.

Botanical Data

Plant Notes: Sedge with mature (brown) and immature (green) infructescences. Large robust spikes with male flowers borne above; distinctly beaked perigynia borne below. Common. Tissue samples representing a collected individual and the sampled population are deposited at the Botanical Research Institute of Texas. Samples are available for study upon request.
