Habitat Description: Growing in Walnut Limestone barrens, with Bouteloua hirsuta, Yucca pallida, and Schizachyrium scoparium.

Soil Description: Walnut Formation. Shallow calcareous clay loam. Soil marly - probably paralythic entisol weathered from shale parent material.
