Habitat Description: Growing on Antlers Sand with calcareous topsoil derived from the Walnut Formation near canyon. With Cornus drummondii, Symphyotrichum ericoides, Smilax bona-nox, Sorghastrum nutans, and Schizachyrium scoparium.

Soil Description: Antlers Sand. Near Walnut Formation contact. Slightly calcareous sandy loam with limestone topsoil and sandy subsoil.
