Locality Description: Fort Worth. Campus of the Botanical Research Institute of Texas. First Peoples' Demonstration Garden, between parking lot and bioswale #4.

Habitat

Habitat Description: Cultivated garden, first planted in Spring of 2014. Full sun.

Botanical Data

Plant Notes: Shrub, approximately 1-1.3 m tall. Flowers: pale yellow or off-white with rose-colored splotches on inside of petals. Buds: small and green. Mature fruit: hard, dark brown opening to expose light brown, tan and fluffy cotton. Immature fruit: hard green ball. Stems: primary stem is reddish and smaller branches are green. Leaves: top-side green, underside a pale green with with a small pore (shiny and oozing) near the base of the primary vein. Some leaves have three pores, one on each of three veins.
