Locality Description: Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge. 300 feet south of trail connecting Todd Island Loop to Levee road, on the Southwest side of the Northeast most clearing on Todd Island.

Habitat Description: Extremely sandy soil with grassy, herbaceous vegeation, clearing is interrupted with small clumps of Prunus, and surrounded by Quercus Stellata and Quercus marlandica.

Soil Description: Deep sandy Aquilla soils.

Plant Notes: Red to brown to green stem with seeds tha thave three awns that appear to be curly at maturity, very common on Todd Island
