Habitat

Habitat Description: In open clearing, receiving full sun. Growing with Tetragonotheca ludoviciana, Opuntia macrorhiza, Hymenopappus artemisiifolius, Cnidoscolus texanus, Monarda citriodora.

Soil Description: Deep sandy Aquilla soils.

Botanical Data

Plant Notes: Erect herb with compound leaves with very small leaflets. Cylindrical inflorescence spike with red-tipped bristles, narrowing at apex; 4-10 cm long. Open flowers located at base of the spike. White petals, bright yellow anthers. Locally abundant.
