Habitat Description: In open clearing, receiving full sun. Growing with Tetragonotheca ludoviciana, Dalea phleioides var. microphylla, Hymenopappus artemisiifolius, Cnidoscolus texanus, Monarda, Matelea cynanchoides, Heterotheca subaxillaris.

Soil Description: Deep sandy Aquilla soils.

Botanical Data

Plant Notes: Erect herb with mature flowers. Deeply lobed apices of petals, which are a bright yellow colour with red-orange staining towards their bases. Disk flowers are a purple-brown colour. Sessile leaves. Common.
