Morphological Description

Diagnosis: Plant to ca. 0.8 m tall; cystoliths numerous; leaf blades glabrous or with a few spreading hairs; loose cymes conspicuous; peduncles 1-2 times branched, to 8 cm long; capsules 20-25 mm long.


Notes: Common in nursery trade, escapes from cultivation; Dallas and Tarrant cos.; probably native to s TX and Mexico. May-Nov. Turner (1991a) suggested that R. brittoniana and R. malacosperma are " probably no more than regional populational leaf variants of the same species." (malacosperma: soft-seeded)
