Morphological Description

Diagnosis: Tree-shaped shrub (rarely a small tree) to ca. 3 m tall, the leaves and few branches crowded toward summit of stem; leaflets 9-23, short-oblong to narrowly lanceolate, glabrous, glaucous beneath; flowers in dense, subsessile, pyramidal panicles.


Notes: Sandy or rocky soils, hillside woods, stream banks, and fencerows; e TX w to Rolling Plains and Edwards Plateau. May. (glabra: glabrous, smooth, hairless)
